Default Sound Comparisons: M4 and RC-F

The turbo-charged M4 and the aspirated RC-F V8 are drastically different in engine sound.

RC-F

Default Badge power

IMHO:
The BMW is certainly loud, some might equate loudness = v8. It's not too bad from inside the car, especially when it got wound up. From outside, if it weren't for the M4 badge showing, I would have probably hit the skip button after 3 seconds.
The Lexus certainly has that v8 rumble that got me thinking "muscle car" immediately. The non FI setup makes for a very smooth but aggressive revving sound.

Certainly they would be, your examples show the BMW's are outside and the RCFs are inside a building, I would imagine they would sound different. But please don't spend the rest of day posting other examples of exhaust notes, I have watched a lot of the videos from Monticello race track and the RCF sounds fantastic. The BMW sounds great when under acceleration but when the gas peddle is released you get that bubbly reverberating sound which sounds odd. But then again who spends $70,000 to $80,000 on a car and the exhaust note is part of the equation on purchasing a car.

RC-F sound from the interior on the track

It is clear how much better RC-F sounds in the interior compared to those fake pre-recorded sounds that are playing through the M4 stereo speakers. Since M4 has pre-recorded sounds, it is not a fair comparison to begin with

The M4 actually sounds worse indoors, IMO.

And under acceleration...

I believe Aston, Ferrari, Maserati, Corvette, Porsche, Mustang, Lamborghini etc. buyers as well as this PA guy buying the RC-F carbon TBD place the exhaust note as a key criterion in the selection.

so another thread gets locked because of the exhaust sound between the two cars and you open up another thread to bait more arguments between members...? I'm not disagreeing with you that the RCF sounds better, but please just let it go already

RCF > M4

I drove these cars back to back on the track - both in Sport + mode.
In terms of sound, the RCF is MUCH louder and so much better.

RCF will sound like a muscle car with an aftermarket system. ISF sounded really good after headers and JoeZ exhaust. RCF will sound even better.

I have logged pleny of hours in the original Shelby 350 GT. What a sweet ride. One thing that I most like about the classic is the purr of the engine and smooth acceleration through the rev range.

This sound track of the new car, IMO, is far to raw and loud for my taste. To each his own.
