RC F resale?
Hey all, my pre-ordered RCF (nebula gray/circuit red) should be coming in in a couple of weeks. Although I love the car, I'm torn because I also have a baby on the way this spring. If it turns out that having a coupe is too much of hassle and I need something bigger, do you all think the RC F will hold enough value where I could sell it for a reasonable price, or will it plummet like a 'regular' car?
I know I'm asking you to look into a crystal ball, but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
FYI: I'm trading in/selling my 2011 white/white ISF to get the RCF

I'm in a similar situation. We have three kids and this isn't exactly the practical choice, so part of the deciding factor was the expectation that the RC F would hold its value pretty well and be relatively easy to resell. I'm not worried. I'll be trading up to a GS F when the time comes, unless the Tesla Model X P85D is too compelling. Charmed life, I know....

The IS-F held its value very well, so I would expect the same if not better on the RC-F, assuming it will have rock solid reliability like its brethren which is more of a factor for used car buyers.

Have you consider not to buy it, just canceling the order? If you know that you are not going to keep it, it would be smart not to get it, regardless of what the resale value will be you will lose thousands of $. At least 10%

The ISF appears to drop by around $10k in the first 10k miles from my research if you were to find a private buyer. Then another $5-10k by the next 10k miles.
The sweet spot for me will be to find a one owner 20-30k miles for around $40k
I will say I think a big reason people hold onto the ISF is the four door. You have utility and speed. We'll see if the same remains true for the RCF. People might be less likely to hold a two door.

These cars are BEST to buy pre-owned. Anyone who goes into it buying a new one thinking they will not lose money is dreaming. In general the higher end the car, the bigger the depreciation 1st year.
I know the rumor is Lexus hold their value well but how well is all in the eyes of the beholder.

Its hard to say about resale...its going to be a rare and a niche car.
Is the RC-F your only car, or are you likely to drive the baby in it often? I can tell you for sure it won't work with a baby. The smallest rear facing infant carrier on the market will not fit behind the driver or front passenger seat in my GS with the seats adjusted for any comfort for me at 6' or my wife at 5'10". No way it would work in an RC.
If you're concerned about resale I'd lease it.

Lexus only hold their value when they are 100k+ miles because they are so reliable, in the first few years, their valve tank just like everything else.

The value drops significantly in the first few years sure, but they hold their value better than other brands even within those first few years.
Personally I don't want a used car, I want a new car whether that costs me more or not.
