Default Passenger Seat Stitching Frayed

Has anyone had this happen to the passenger or drivers seat? The stitching on the bolster on the passengers seat is fraying. Have you had this problem? Did Lexus cover a warranty repair or replacement? The car has ~ 5K miles. I have had a passenger in the car very few times.

Sorry to see this happened, I have passengers regularly, no sign of degradation.
Though I have had an occasion where Velcro accidently frayed some threads and the results looks similar.
Definitely request warranty repair from the dealer.

I agree with Radical350, looks like Velcro caught the stitches

The drivers seat shows no wear and my wife is the only one who has ever sat in the passengers seat.

No velcro that I know of has been in contact with the seat. I am bringing the car to the dealer this Saturday.

My drivers side bolster had the surface of the seat come off in a small spot. Took a while, but they replaced the seat cover. Here's a link to my issue. I treat this car with kid gloves because I don't believe it can take day to day wear and tear.

Default Have not seen this

This past February while at the Chicago Auto Show, I recalled Poqman's post about his seat issue, so I looked closely at the seats in the RC that was unlocked for people to try out.

I didn't notice any issues with wear on the seat material nor the stitching. Certainly the seats weren't looking brand new after 1000s of enter/exit cycles by people who I'm sure didn't give a hoot about the car, but I was happy with how the bolsters were holding up and that there were no signs of wear similar to what Poqman experienced.

Just another data point for people who are experiencing abnormal seat wear issues.

If you are worried, a little varnish applied to the stitching should prevent this kind of thing.

Took the car to the dealer today, they took pictures. They said they had to send it to Lexus first. That would take about a week. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

It's good to hear Lexus stood behind their product, That should go without saying, but in certain instances I can see where it would be difficult to determine manufacturer error versus customer error. Not to say it was customer error but really difficult to determine when it comes to wear and tear items.
