First Time Car Buyer
hey everyone,
so i have been in the market for a pre-owned RC350 in Ultra Mica Blue and i have had my eyes on this car.
http://www.arlingtontoyota.com/inven...he5bc7f5006381
It has about 15k miles and selling for about 45K's. I'm currently negotiating price and hoping to finalize something this month. But my main question I have for you guys is if there is any disadvantage in purchasing a lexus from a Non-Lexus Dealership. In this car, this car is being sold in a Toyota Dealership. And also, for those current owners, the car has been serviced at 5k and 10k. at 15k Mileage, what other future services would i be looking for? Break Change?
Thanks in Advance

Well chances are you will be fine considering this car has 3 years and 35,000 miles of factory bumper to bumper coverage left. If you did find one at a Lexus dealership it would most likely be an L Certified car. Assuming it was of the same year and miles that would get you the remainder of the factory warranty (3 more years/up to 50,000 miles plus an additional 2 years after the factory warranty runs out of bumper to bumper coverage. You would also get 2 years of maintenance paid for. The downside is that you are probably going to pay closer to the $47,500. It all depends on how important the extra 2 years of warranty and 2 years of maintenance is to you. The way I look at it, you are going to pay for it anyway. I'd rather pay $47,500, have a $25.00 higher a month payment and know I have a longer warranty, and 2 years of maintenance. On the other hand I know how well these cars are built. I would have no problem taking a good deal and buying one from a non Lexus dealer as long as service history is good. It's all personal preference.

When buying a one year old Lexus from a Lexus dealership, the car would surely be CPO and you would get a warranty going beyond the original 4 year warranty. They have changed the CPO in recent years, so I'm not sure of the details. Also as part of the CPO the Lexus mechanics in the dealer's shop have gone over it.
On the other side, you would probably pay a bit more for the CPO, and CPO on a one year old car is only a marginal improvement. The maintenance schedule for years 2 and beyond is surely available on the Lexus web page, but if you are concerned about the cost of the upkeep, perhaps this car is not for you.
Finally, I am unfamiliar with a "Break Change." Nothing breaks on a Lexus (almost hardly never).

The blue will cost more not because it is rare but because, like Infrared, it is applied using a special multi-layer paint technique. Those colors are a $600 option, which is why you see fewer of them on the road.

wow, didn't know they charge 600 extra. I wanted blue too but got a white one for a good deal since there's no blue on the lot.

There are many blues in the Lexus lineup. It is the Ultrasonic Blue Mica that is a $600.00 option. The only other such color is the Infrared. These colors cost extra because essentially the car is painted twice: once with a silver metallic, then with a translucent blue or red, with some layers of clearcoat for depth. The silver layer acts like a mirror, giving these colors a depth and richness unlike regular old listless car paint, to which I will never return, probably. (Right now I think these colors are only available on the RC, but I might be wrong on that.)

To me that seems a bit high. But I've never checked the price of a used RC. I took mine to park place Lexus in Plano, TX to get appraised. They offered me $36,000 for mine.

I've been seeing some RC-F's in the higher 4's lower 5's. Not sure if you'd want an F, but they have been coming down recently too. Crazy to think that the 15' RC-F's MSRP'd close to 80k and now they are in the higher 4's lower 5's with 15-20k miles on the clock. They always say never buy a new car and to wait at least 2 years...You made a wise decision. I was thinking about waiting another year and upgrading to a 2015 F, I might need a V8 in my life soon, but hey that's just me hahaha.
