GS400 SRT intake LIES!
So I know the SRT intake is supposed to be the "best" I have owned one for over 8 years on my other car and I just bought a used one for the new GS4.
I decided to dyno my car today and since it was slow there we got experimenting a little.
I have OBX headers, hi flow cats, 2.5" X-pipe and catback.
I proved today that it's ALL LIES and hype. Dyno'd the car with the intake and made 226whp. So then I pull the intake and "race ecu" out and put the stock pipe back in with a cone filter on the end. Car then made 218whp. I made 3-4 pulls with each setup and it was within less than 1HP. I should not even be surprised since Mo at SRT lies about everything else...
Where is the 30hp and 4o ft lb of torque we were promised?????
Probably hiding with all the money he's stolen from people.

Damn bro... even with or without the intake, with dyno readings from 218-226 with headers makes me think that there's something wrong with your car. Those numbers seem extremely low.

The AFR is really rich, leaner with the intake but with the stock intake it was dipping into the 10's at WOT - I'm gonna install an SAFC and go back, there's easily 20-30hp missing.
The other possible issue is that this is a JDM engine - they are supposed to be rated 10ho less but I always thought that was from exhaust manifolds and ECU tuning.
I'm curious now to compare the pistons and cams.
I'm using the original USDM ECU and the headers so who knows.
What are other guys dyno-ing at?

Your whole exhaust is the problem, Backpressure isnt the word here but more exhaust velocity. Either way your exhaust is now, not flowing properly.. With your headers, 2.5 inch exhaust and free flowing cats you lost a VERY good amount of tq. I didnt look to much into it but your 02 sensors are probably thrown off and its now effecting your A\F. Your srt intake did its job by providing you some power, throwing your hp and tq numbers back and slightly above stock. Witch i would believe was from the srt "race" ecu. I personally think the srt intake is a waste of money and you will net greater results with any other cold air intake with a proper tune. Im speaking from experience. When i went with 3 inch straight pipes on my previouse gs4 i couldnt even peel out from a stop. I believe its the headers and the exhaust thats making your numbers look low. I personally think without the safc the exhaust mods are useless. And when you get it properly tuned you will see very good numbers.

i was thinking of this earlier that the guys with PPE headers that unless your cats are free flowing the headers IMO defeat the purpose of letting the engine breathe.. less restricted headers going into restricted cats, into straight/X-pipe, into resonators then into mufflers. Seems like Angus setup would be better with everything "free flowing"... has anyone measured the OBX compared to PPE?
