How about just taking out the two (I believe) ECU fuses instead of disconnecting the battery?

Surprisingly enough, you DONT lose a thing. I installed my intake and had the battery ( neg terminal ) off for about 15-30 mins. I got back in the car, everything was the same. The first time you turn the car over, it shuts off immediately. Then a "loading" screeen comes on, then you just crank over as you would. Hope this helps.

yeah the stereo is pretty smart. it doesnt seem to lose settings when battery is disconnected.
its probably saving the information to data disk space to remember even with battery disconnect unlike older vehicles.
