I don't doubt those numbers for a second. I meant that you cannot feel 4-5 whp in your seat unless you're a robot. And the sound of the intake is what actually makes a huge difference mod-wise. Let's just agree on these facts: Your intake produces the most gains there is for an intake, period; and the joe z pipe is also the quietest intake for the 3IS (for 2IS that's a different story). Those looking for hp gains should not look any further and get the joe z intake. And those who want to increase the sound of their car should look elsewhere as this intake will literally silence it to prius sound levels. That's all there is to say.

I have no idea to be honest. All I know is that with just the joe z pipe, the 3IS is silent. Maybe it's the design of the box inlet pipe. I'm running this intake again now, but this time with a K&N filter and a hole cut in the intake box like the fsport box for 2IS. It sounds really good! But so does the stock intake too with the same modifications.

I am confused why would the same Joe Z pipe make the 2IS louder but the 3IS quieter? Lets take the sound generator out of the discussion for a second because the 2IS did not have it. If that is the case shouldn't the 2IS/3IS cars have the same sound with the Joe Z pipe since the engine did not change? Based on that the 3IS would be just as loud as a 2IS with the Joe Z pipe?
You can't remove the sound generator from the discussion when you're comparing an intake with it (3IS), to an intake without it (2IS), to an aftermarket intake (Joe Z). They may very well sound the same with the Joe Z, but a stock 2IS and a stock 3IS do not sound the same because of the sound generator on the stock 3IS intake.

I might have to finally put mine on from my old 2IS. I HATE the sound of the 3IS sound generator...reminds me of those stupid things for your exhaust to make it sound like it's got a turbo.
