2IS Takeda on 3IS DIY
Video with Audio of Takeda Intake on 3IS

Also, don't get a takeda because their metal clamps will eat through the soft silicone couplers over time (those who doubt that, take yours off and check it out!).

The before/after video somewhat demonstrates this but it's much better sounding in person. Unlike some of the other aftermarket intakes, the Takeda comes with a bracket that creates almost a sealed system which helps cut the motion of hot engine air while sucking in cold air through the stock "ram air" tunnel. It's smartly designed. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ml#post8153924

Nice man! yea you won't regret it. I've also posted a comment somewhere on this forum that it might be a +/- 5hp difference. more air = better but hotter air = worse. I don't have any numbers to back that up though. you WILL be able to hear the growl which you'll love. i've had mine on now for about 7 months and just hit 10,000 miles. I've removed twice and installed three times (for R&D purposes) and all parts are just as new as the first day. Nothing is ripping or breaking. AND...in the post above this one there's my DIY which shouldnt take you more than 20 minutes. you'll just need some basic tools and you'll save yourself some money on the labor. =)

Good luck!

A few years ago in a different car I owned we had this same cold air intake conversation. I had a digital thermometer that read and recorded with two sensors. I put one sensor in the factory cold air intake, the other under the hood where an aftermarket intake would get air. At 30 mph the air temperatures were the same. Below thirty the factory intake was colder. In traffic the factory set up was best. Out of traffic it made no difference. Now remember, this is Hawaii so COLD air is 80'.

Aloha,
Larry
