2JZGE Boost questions...
Im about to purchase an SC300 A/T or M/T undecided... Im definatly gonna put boost on it but something seems to puzzle me. I used to have a internaly-stock-motor Eclipse with a 60-1 Turbo with all the supporting mods to handle it, and didnt have to worry about anything when running 19-22psi on pump gas, 22+psi on racegas. But it seems like the 2JZGE-T people only run 10-15psi....even with a thick headgasket? Now to me that seems like Honda pressure but Im still new to the 2JZ motor.......Now my question is will the stock NA motor handle it if I bolt on say, a T61 Turbo, thick headgasket, and about 20psi on pump gas..? What are the limits to the stock bottom end motor??? In the 4G63 Eclipse world thats no problem. I guess I like to build a car to its limits..Plus I thought these Turbo Supra guys run like 25psi no problem all day long. Arent the bottom ends in both motors the same(other than oil squirters)? I havent came across a 2JZGE-T motor running anymore then 15psi...So if you are somoene out there running more than 15psi...please post on here...I interested to read about your setup

Stock ge internals on race gas and spray: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=97797 Is that stout enough?
You might run high teens on pump without knock on a well tuned ge motor, but I wouldn't do it without an AEM. The internal/external logging allows you to monitor knock that most if not all piggy-back units won't do.

Oh ok cool...it look like you CAN run decent on the stock bottom end motor. Thats what I needed to know. Who makes a decent thick head gasket for these motors??? Im lookin for something that will bring it down to about 8.5:1 compression.
Another thing is I havent really found a thread that talks about using a Supra automatic trans in a SC300, since the stock SC300 auto is inadequate for decent power. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi mate I am new to this forum and I own a twin turbo soarer(from Australia)
I have had problems with my auto after pushing so much power through it .you will have to convert the kilowatts back to horse power (sorry mate)
the A340 auto trans is only good for 220 rwkw.(in standard form)
Above that I found out that it wants to fry the friction plates in the box .
A shift kit has fixed that problem and now is able to hang on to 260 rwkw
The next mod to be done to be able to get 320rwkw is a high stall converter and extra friction plates to be fitted to the box.
My car right now is putting out 246rwkw out of a 1jz with some big turbos (twin GT28 Garretts)
So with a few mods to the tranny it can handle a fair amount of power
Cheers

Hey guy, thanks for all your input. The auto tranny is all I was worried about with big HP numbers. But recenty I have just found a 1992 SC300 5spd pretty cheap. Now my next question is, should I prepare myself to do a 6spd swap to get the top gear highway speed I want??? Im gonna wanna run down my other buddies with Supras that can already run 165+mph. Will the stock SC300 5spd run up that high???
Should I maybe just get the Supra rear-end??? Whats the best way to get the top speed Im lookin for?
Thanks

OK so Im gonna guess about 150-160mph based on your opinions...Now do you guys know if its possible to just swap for a Supra rear-end?? I belive the Supra rear-ends have a lower gear ratio than the SC300s?

Re-gear it??? Hmmm that sounds like the best way. But I didnt think you could do it with these rear-ends...? Who could do something like that? Has anyone ever done that before????
