Default New 2JZ-GTE SC to the list

Well through out the summer I was able to convert my SC to a 2JZ-GTE powered SC beast. I took it for a test drive around the block and only got to about 0.5 bar of boost and noticed it pull so hard I bearly could sit up during acceleration. My friend that was with be said "I got to make me one of these!"

Unfortunately, shortly after that test drive I found out that I blew the head gasket. I know this cause it was stanly steamer out of my exhaust. I think the reason for this happening was becuse engine was unused for so long that the gasket could have developed small pinholes or it could lost its strengh and started to warp when the engine turn over and the temp rose to the operating temp. At any rate I need some advice in the varity of head gaskets out there for sale. What size do you guy recomend a 1mm or a 1.2 ,1.3 or a 1.4. I know that the higher I go the lower my compression becomes enabling me to shove more air in. I am only running stock turbos but I will eventually will be going single. So please let me know which way I should go.

On another relating suject , I noticed that my temp gauge was pretty much burried throughout the whole ten minutes of the engine idling. The engine got quite hot to the touch, I thought it was the temp sender sensor, but then when I testt drove it, the temp gauge moved a quarter up. I just want to know how hot does this engine
get. Does it get consideralbly hotter than the 2jz-ge for the thermostat to open? Thanks.

I'd replace with the stock thickness GTE gasket unless you want to go 800+

For the cheaper route, you should just replace it with an OEM TT headgasket. But if you want to help out someone in need, I have an HKS 1.6mm for sale (as everyone knows).

My partner just put down 980rwhp through an SP400 trans locked up, no spray. All boost!!!
It peaked at 36lbs of boost. The block is completely stock, but I'm sure it wouldn't last much longer
on that much boost. God I love the GTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the motor was running too hot for some reason, then that is what blew the head gasket, not boost.
