Default 1st gear problem

I got a 95 NA-T Mkiv .Ok, so I swap in a new clutch and now I have a problem of not going in 1st gear smoothly. Sometime I have to push real hard to get it in gear or pump the clutch to get in gear. After it goes in 1st. the the rest of the gears are easy. When it's hard to go into 1st gear, all the other gears are also hard getting into.

what kind of clutch did you put in? When i put in my centerforce stage 2 it had some special instructions for toyota vehicles and you had to check the clutch pedal clearances to make sure it would all work properly. I got by fine without doing anything, but its worth an effort to look into it.

did it work fine before you did the clutch? sounds like its not disengageing all the way if it goes it after you pump it. anyone think it is a syncro prob??

Doesn't sound like a syncro problem IF it happens in all gears when it is happening. How long have you had the clutch in (miles) ? Did you change your tranny fluid ?

well he had to let all of the fluid out in order to pull the transmission in the first place. Even if he didnt drain it, it would have drained when he pulled the driveshaft. Lets hope he put some back in

if its hard to get into every gear when its hard to get into 1st, sounds like its not disengaging all the way. Did you put a new throwout bearing in? have enough fluid in your clutch master cylinder resevoir? Did you bleed the line if you took the slave cylinder off the line for some reason? Lots of IF'S!

yeah, I drain the trany fluid and refill, the only thing I can think of is if I need to adjust the clutch position pedal. That is the only thing I haven't check out. I just left it alone after I install the clutch. It was a clutch master stage4.

would the clutch pedal adjust make a difference? since it only adjust the position of the clutch pedal. Or does it adjust the engagement position?

I'll look into this tonight..

thanks for the reply.

No way. We did 2 clutch changes without pulling the driveshaft out of the tranny. The first time my clutch was changed, we kept the same fluid.

really? mine just pulls out so easy it is just one less thing to work with in the way. I guess if i had to install a clutch one after another i would hold the driveshaft the the tranny to save gear oil

well, I bleed the clutch, still no good.
How much fluid did you put in the trany? I put in 3 bottle of Mobile 1 75w90. something like that can't remember clearly. Its like 986ml per bottle. Did I put in enough? Would that make a differnce?
You folks have any suggestion I shold try to see if first gear would work better?

thanks.
