Default Manual Transmission 3rd gear problem

I've been having problems with shifting into third gear. It makes a thut noise and is very easy to grind, even though i'm pusing in the clutch the same distance as every other gear (i never grind, it only happens with this gear). Is anyone else having this problem or can tell me what might be going on?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought you don't push in the clutch pedal all the way. you just push it in far enough so that it disengages from the flywheel.

you don't push in the clutch pedal all the way <-- you are at the edge of burning your clutch.....

that's why you are having the thut noise.....

i have a grinding issue going into 2nd, but not for my 3rd. from reading the old posts, it seems the grind into 2nd is a universal problem with these crap trannies. from what i hear, f sport short shifter ftw.

whats wrong with going from 2nd to 4th? if you know your 3rd is muffed up, either go get it fixed, or don't put it into 3rd to do further damage.

or it just might be your driving habits...make sure its in 3rd before you even think about lifting up that left foot.

i used to have this problem when i had my 08' is250.. 3rd would have that problem, and sometimes 1st gear would be not let me go in from a dead stop.. sux!! i took it to the dealer about 3 times for this problem but they denied it!! said everything was fine.. so i finally got fed up and traded it in.. One of the techs told me that the 6speed is250 have a toyota tacoma tranny...

theres been endless complaints on the IS250 MT
2nd gear problems
3rd gear problems
and 1st gear problems

sometimes when im at a full stop, light goes green i cant shift into first.. its weird, have to play with it a few times (depress clutch try to shift first or sometimes jam it in there)

sometimes when driving and i fully depress clutch and try to switch gears.. it seems like the clutch never disengage yet, resulting in a grind..

thank god I leased this car..
anyone try a race clutch by any chance?

i talked to the dealer today and scheduled them to have a look at it on saturday. the assistant service advisor's response to my problem was that he had never heard of such a thing and that they've sold lots of manual transmission is250's and have never heard one complaint... i think that's a big fat lie. it's tom wood lexus in indianapolis, in. there were only about 1000 2006 models sold.

he said it just sounds like wear and tear, even though the car only has 11,400 miles on it!

Lexus too huh? My RSX-S used to do this crap to me even when it was a perfect shift with full depression of the clutch pedal and everything. ridiculous. I changed the transmission fluid to Royal Purple 75w-90 and it was a LOT better after that. Try that

If you called corporate, they'd also tell you that nobody has ever called with a complaint about the transmission, even though I and a lot of other people on this forum have called.
