Aluminum parts seperation
Hello gang,
I'm working a '95 SC400 and doing water pump/timing belt/etc and I have run into an issue I've not seen before. The water pump is REALLY stuck to the block and I have not worked on an all aluminum block before. I do not wish to damage the block trying to get that pump off. It had overheated ( I shut it off quickly) but now the pump, and the gasket sealant, it does not want to come off. Before I try to use acetone, and or a torch to heat the water pump, I want to reach out to experienced guys who may have encountered this. I searched all the threads and have not found anything about this issue. Any tricks to get that pump off without causing potential damage to the sensitive aluminum block?
