Blown Engine '94 SC300
So there is a loud knocking coming from the the top of the engine near the pistons. Had it towed to the dealership and they told me it would be 5k for a new engine replacement. So of course I said tow it back to my house.
I havent gotten the chance to look at the engine myself but if a new engine is required, I was thinking of buying the 2jz-gte and replacing the current engine with that.
My question is... Is the new engine and tranny all I would need or are there other parts I need to order before my SC would be drivable again?

Just search for 2JZGTE swap. There are zillions of threads. Your parts list would depend on your choice to keep the stock twins or go right for a nice single turbo setup. It will also depend upon your choice of tranny.
Unless you are a mechanic or extremely knowledgable about boosted cars, you have loads of reading to do before making well informed choices. Take your time if you can.
Good luck.

With a 94 it might be better/cheaper to look into a 1jz swap.
So now after you mentioned it, I'm leaning more towards the 1JZ. But im confused on the differences between Chaser and Soarer. Is there any real major difference?
Again, I will be doing more extensive research when I have the time. Thanks for the responses.

Thanks everyone for their input. I have time to decide between a 1JZ or 2JZ as I just purchased a LS400 for my daily driver (another headache already) until I get my SC fixed. I will be buying the recommended book all knowledge is helpful if not now later on. Thanx
