highest hp na 2jz
I just have a question. How much hp can you get with a naturally aspirated 2jzge?

Not worth it for the amount of money needed to spend to get the 2jzge NA...Header, exhaust, intake....might see maybe 25 hp increase with those....but thats still stretching it
Much better gains can be had by going turbo for similar cost.....
IMO dont waste your time trying to get power out of NA

Even with the above methods you'll be hard pressed to reach anything remotely near 300whp on pump gas without spending way more than a turbo kit will cost you. You'd also need to tune for VP100 (100 octane) or C16 race gas or E85. If you have 93 octane at the pumps in your area you'd probably do OK. 90-91 won't get you close. It doesn't matter though-- the engine was designed for turbocharging and the abuse of boost.
An NA-T with a small turbo or a 1JZ or 2JZGTE swap would be far more streetable. A fully tuned NA 2JZ will be more like a race car engine in the sense that it lives only in the upper rev ranges and has very little low end. Even with only 180whp the GE motor gives you all the low end it has to give.

^^ Yep. turbodremz, would you say your LS1 swap cost you far more than or about the same as a tricked out 2JZGTE swap?
I will say that LRG_SOUP's ITB Supra is very impressive at 241whp on 91 octane with a tune but the work to get it there has been extensive. He's said he wanted an interesting car more than a specific horsepower number such that a turbo would give him. The exhaust note against the sound of those ITBs is glorious. Some shop in Japan specializes in 2JZ-GE NA tuning (and I believe NA Nissan RB's as well) and got their demo car to 300whp. I think that's the car you guys were thinking of above. I couldn't imagine the cost it took to do that without a turbo.

In the larger picture I agree with you but I have to disagree with that specific statement. The NA engine by itself is great fun to rev through the gears and it's got adequate power to briskly get through most normal city and highway driving situations in an enjoyable way. I'm not taking into account a slow automatic transmission, open diff, soft suspension or the anemic stock gearing of a 5-speed model, just the NA engine itself. Going into very high mountain elevation is the only time I've felt normal driving demands stress out the NA 2JZ. Boring? Nope. Slow compared to Camrys, minivans and even an FR-S? Absolutely. I've driven plenty of slow cars that are also truly boring to operate and thus unrewarding all around. The SC isn't one of them.
I'm never bored driving my NA car but there are many reasons why it's getting a GTE engine. You do need boost to fully exploit the SC chassis.
I've said before that the NA 2JZ engine left mostly as-is is a great swap engine for a lighter chassis like a 240SX or MKII Celica-Supra where 220hp/210ft-lbs is actually pretty good. I think those ITB Supras are awesome but they are also too costly and far more dedicated to track-only duty for most people's tastes, to say nothing of the allure of a 500whp+ 2JZ
