GForce Performance Chip
Is this chip as easy to install as advertised, and is it everything they say it is?

No. Chips are as useful as racing stripes that add 20hp. Lets all be grown-ups here and move on from "chips".
If you want to add HP to your car then do it properly. It starts with researching and gaining a bit of knowledge about BPU (basic performance upgrades), and a "chip" is not one of them.

all I chip is usually just a mini circuit board with a led light inside it.
and some of them potentially can interrupt your maf signal and alter it (don't know why you would want to cause rich conditions)
I got bored one day and took one apart...

Why are chips such a controversial topic? I assume the interest in the idea comes from all the squad cars that are supposedly chipped for huge power, but even with those the insiders say the chips aren't for performance. On the other hand, I know trustworthy people who swear by the dyno-proven performance improvements of chips specifically for their cars. Better fuel maps and what not. Do some chips work and others do nothing positive?

So many chips!
If it was a proven mod wouldn't you see more of it on the forum considering the lack of aftermarket ecu options for our cars?
Put the chips down. If you aren't boosted then what exactly are you needing to change? And if you are considering turboing the car you will be going either to a GTE ecu or standalone.
