Default Change Fuel Filter...anyone notice a difference?

I've posted here about my car hesitating, etc. It doesn't hesitate nearly as much, hardly at all as long as I keep throttle preasure to a minimum. I can step on it, but then it might hesitate a bit. If I drive around and keep light pressure, it runs pretty good and every once in a while you'll notice a hesitateion.

I was thinking about changing the Fuel Filter. I checked the coils, its not that. At a constant highway speed, it runs smooth. The car starts right up, every once in a while it starts, but it takes a second or two for the RPM's to pick up.

I'm trying to figure out what the problem might be before changing the ECU to the car.

Thoughts?

try running some fuel system cleaner in the tank also. Had a friend with a slight hesitation when first accelerating. He changed the filter and ran some fuel system clean and he said its helped the car.

I've checked the coils, and that's not it. I was going to run some Berryman's through it (someone recommended it) and change the fuel filter to see if that makes a different. The car never stalls, bit just hesitates, especially under harder acceleration.

i had the same thing on my former car (not lexus) , with this weather conditions the distributor cap can condensate inside and when you push the pedal and need harder acceleration its stats to hesitate yes , open your distributor cap and look for moister

good luck

I had a 2001 gs430 that had almost the same exact issue... light acceleration car ran perfect but if i stepped on it, it would bog down and hesitate. I cleaned the MAF and the car stopped hesitating... I would also change the fuel filter, about a year and a half later the car would randomly stall out at traffic light when i came to a stop, changed the fuel filter and never happened again... hope that helps

before you try and spray maf cleaner into your maf, you cannot use that on the 92-95 SC400's it uses the type of maf they say specifically on the side of the can not to use on your car. 96+ you can use that stuff just fine as the maf is a hotwire type, so 2001 yes you can clean it like that, 92 you cannot.

I would check the plugs and check the intake pipe for any cracks or loose plastic pieces.

Ive changed the fuel filter on both my sc4s for good measure, but no improvement in performance. Be sure to search all the warnings related to replacement.

I have a 1992, how can I clean the MAF? I checked the air filter, etc and nothing out of the normal. Keep in mind it is a 1992 with about 111,000 miles.

It is definitely a problem when I go harder on the thottle. Last night I decided to go heavy on the throttle and it hesitated much more, including stop lights. I backed off and drove lightly and the hesitation was MUCH less and what hesitation there was wasn't nearly as bad. Its almost like the car is starving when I get on the throttle.

I think it might be the fuel filter, but what are some of the problems if I change it?

Try to have your fuel injectors cleaned out as well. Get some new o-rings on there too.

Throw in some fuel system cleaner and drive it around for a few days. Thats the cheapest test you can go with.

Put some Lucas fuel treatment in it. How long should it take to work and how should I behave? Quick acceleration, calm highway speeds, normal driving? I put it in and I've driven may 20 miles and i haven't noticed anything yet. I'll driving on about an hour drive over the weekend, all highway so the car runs smooth on the highway.

Thoughts? My thought it is either my injectors or my fuel filter...

Just drive it normally for a few days see if anything changes.
