Can I use a W58 Aristo Trans in my sc4?

OP, it's the correct length, yes. It will have a shifter placement just like that of 1995-97 SC300 5-speeds. Japan-market Aristos never came with W58's or any manual transmission from the factory though. The one you have in the picture was swapped onto the engine, assuming that's an Aristo GTE it's bolted to. Anyway, you'll love it!
On R154's: I haven't found mine to be overly notchy or difficult to shift since having broken it in after a rebuild. That was the case when it was JUST rebuilt and wearing in the new synchros and bearings. It does feel very different compared to the W58 but in a good, solid way. The other thing to note is that the W58 has a synchronized reverse gear while the R154 does not. You get into the habit of stopping completely and selecting 1st gear before reverse to ensure the shaft has spun down. It becomes second nature and not a big deal but it's not necessary on the W58. JesLet will have to inform us if the AR-5 is the same
