Ok I HAVE to finally get around to fixing this idle issue

Note the temp gauge, gear, rpm, throttle etc. That the check engine light decides to come on. I assume you have n egr delete, if so it could be looking for egr temp sensor and the resistor may have wiggled loose or has a bad connection. Problems like these can be fun to figure out

keep us posted, it actually looked pretty dirty those are supposed to be squeaky clean like you made it. If It still gives you issues, make sure that rod you cleaned isn't jammed up, the magnets in the base turn one way or the other, and that makes the rod come in or out, but sometimes the rod sticks and the magnet cant move it anymore.
thats is really wierd about the CEL going in and out, never seen that before. maybe try a spare ecu if you have one.
and the little air push rod behind the tps if I am thinking right, is only there to keep the throttle from closing too fast on rapid decel, it is purely for emissions and smoothness to prevent a little "gurgling" from the fuel that was dumped in right before you let off the throttle.
It does this via a ported vacuum line off the throttle body. You can test it by disconnecting and applying vacuum to that line, and the rod should shoot out, and go back in when you let the vac off.

Somebody has the stock 22 yo plug wires
I also cleaned my original IAC and made sure it was easy to move yet it didn't work. I bought a used one on ebay (we all know new ones start at over $400 for non-OEM) and while it looked identical it fixed the problem -- at least until it gets in the same condition as the original. After all, trading a 20 yo part for a 18 yo part doesn't buy you much time.

Bitter sweet, I found the idle issue, but now for the first time in the 11 years I've owned this car the transmission is not engaging.
Here's the idle issue............ It was by sheer luck I found it since it was buried under the intake.
