Default Engine problems again, need advice please!!!!!

Hey guys ,

started my sc400 this morning(93-- 100 00miles) and something is very wrong.

The engine is struggling to make any power, running very rough , seems like maybe its missing.

I cant drop the car to my mechanic until Tuesday morning so im wondering if maybe I can try to narrow it down in the meantime.

I bought the car about 2 years ago and I havent given it a tune up, wondering if this could be the cause.

Replaced coil packs about a year ago, also a few sensors have been replaced.

I am going to give the car a tune up regardless of this issue, can anyone here recomend an aftermarket tune up kit, one they have used and had good experiance with.

Thank you very much in advance,

William

sparkplug, spark plug wires, distributer cap and rotor, transmission fluid, vacuum leak sounds more like a vacuum leak or maf problem than anything...check your coil[ack connections...did you buy brand new coipacks a years ago or used ones?

yes the coil packs were brand new and I remember when I had a coil pack failure the car ran much much worse then this, violent shaking and felt like it was about to blow up.

How could tranny fluid be related to this issue? Or are u just mentioning it as something that should be repalced for maintenance?

Thanks man

im gonna check for codes in the morning its too dark now.

Im assuming to check the MAF I can try unplugging it and starting the engine.

How do I check for vaccuum leaks? Is it something I can do on my own?

To check for vacuum leaks spray carb cleaner or wd-40 while the motor is running. Listen for increase or decrease in motor. Check your maf and the iacv. Main two components that need cleaning or goes bad. GL

My money is on the ignition system. If your cats are super hot and you can smell fuel, its something with the ignition....caps/rotors, plug wires, plugs, coils.

thanks guys

I know its impossible to diagnose a car online but i really appreciate the info and help.

Does anyone know where i can purchase a good quality aftermarket set of wires to go with the plugs im getting???

There are some tune up kits on e-bay but i would never buy anything that doesnt come recomended by someone that has used them before.

Thanks alot guys
