Default In middle of R154 swap, starter won't line up HELP (PICS)

I'm swapping from an auto to R154. I just installed the 1jz flywheel and pilot bearing. I removed the flexplate and ring. For some reason the starter gears wont line up with the flywheel gears. It's NOT bolted up but the starter is pressed in all the way.

when I start the car will the gears just come out and align and retract once the engines running?

...that makes sense

the starters gears pops out when the trigger is engaged and thats how it makes contact to the flywheel amd when the car is actually started the gears pops back in and out of the way...

if you dont believe me then take the starter out and pull on the gear you'll see what i mean...

Yeah, starter is fine. When you turn the key, the starter gear engages, it turns the flywheel. Not good if it engages all the time! Lol!
