Default 1jzgte heads on a 2jzge bottom

So ive been reading online about people puttin a 1jz or 2jz tt heads or full top on a 2jzge bottom block, whats the deal with this? can it be done and if so what excatly would you need to do so. Will it fit directly or need modifications? im asking so many questions due to the fact that my cykinder head and gaskets are blown n im going to replace the head.

The purpose of the head swap is for most NA-T applications. If you want to go turbo, go with a 1JZ or GTE head. Not sure if the bolt pattern is the same, but I don't see there being much of a difference.

and to simply answer your question- Yes it can be done, has been done, has been documented, and can be found by searching. But to give you a heads up, its a bit more involved than just slapping a head on a block. If you go with a GTE head, youll have to be sure your ready to deal with ignition/turbo/throttle cable/exhaust/FP/wire harness modifications..

^^^ + you will need a TT oil pump for crank readings (a lot of stuff for ignition basically).

...easy way to say it imo is..imagine buying a full 2jzgte/1jzgte swap..and taking everything off it and putting it into your car(minus the block itself)..plus ull have to tap your block..its really easier to just either a)buy a full swap and do that..or b) just buy a turbo kit for the ge motor..

being as im guessing ur head is messed up?? id be easier to just swap with another ge head and call it a day

the 1jz head is considerable cheaper than an entire swap, whether its 1jz or a 2jz swap, thats the main attraction, but it would be better to run a full 2jz-gte or just use the 2jz-ge head as they are both better than the 1jz head.

i agree to an extent..the head itself is yes..however finding a COMPLETE head wiring coil packs etc everything thats needed..is very hard to find imo( i looked for a month or so and only came up with heads that where missing a few things)

and by the time you purchase everything extra that the heads are usually missing whether it be the stock turbo's piping coil packs wiring harness ecu etc etc..it tends to get very costly

but i agree with keeping the ge head and turbo'ing the car like so..this is the decision i made when asking my self a similar question.
