Getting your NA-T Auto to shift sooner
I recently went NA-T precision 61mm running about 10psi.. The car runs good except for the dreaded 1-2 shift and sometimes 2-3 shift rev limiter bounce.
After doing quit a bit of researching and trying different things. I decided to crank the TPS sensor further counter clockwise from the factory setting. I have it almost fully turned to its max. Now I know this probably affects many things fuel, timing etc.. But I wanted to try it anyways. Took the car out and it definitely made a huge difference in how soon the car shifts.
Before it would bounce of the limiter 2-3 times, now just barely touches it and shifts on the 1-2 and does not bounce on the 2-3 shift.
I also have the line pressure cranked up via the throttle cable adjustment but I've had that for a while already.
The only other effect I can tell its had is a bit of hunt from the TC lock up under light throttle while in od at low speeds...
Anyone else try this ?

Shift it manually..I know, I know some will say dont cause it will kill the transmission..BUT, I have been shifting my auto na-t manually since it first tasted boost, and not one problem at all, no one slip, etc..not saying this as a recommendation, cause you may not have the same luck as I have playing with fire.
unfortunately, the stock auto doesnt have much adjustment to prevent limiter-bounce under hard boosted acceleration. Only suggestion I have, is to fit the TT auto trans and call it a day, but even then you may still tag the limiter from time to time.
just go with an r154 and call it a day.

Shift it manually ...?? lol Thats all i do, but it actually makes the problem worse since your holding in gear, it causes and even bigger delay to shift to the next gear.. How much power are you running because that will make a big diffrence as well.. The more power the faster the motor revs the worse the condition since the stock trans's shift can't keep up. Regardless the trans will not shift any faster by "shifting manually" it will have the same delay or worse..
BTW next step is dropping in a jdm tt auto with shims I just don't have the means since other things are taking priority.
Just thought I would offer this up so others could benifit, it is working for me.
And I have no desire to go manual... been there done that I like my auto
