Default Is the supra/sc300 radiator fan hydraulic or mechanical?

I need to replace my rad in my 1jz but my mechanic said the supra rad wont work because the fan is mechanical and the 1jz is hydraulic. Is this true?
Because people on here said they are all interchangable.

thanks

The radiator doesn't care if the fan is hydraulic or mechanical. Get a new mechanic.

In that case, all OEM 1jz/2jz/gte are interchangable?

You are correct, his mechanic might just be talking about the water pump maybe. The aristo's 2j and supra 1j have hydraulic pumps and must be converted to a clutch fan, as far as I know. Maybe mis understanding?

If you are talkin radiators, then talk about compatability with the chassis. A mk3 supra radiator will not just drop into the sc300.

Mkiv supras, I believe, have radiators that are compatible with the sc300 chassis.

There was a little modding to do, to make it fit. There is a DIY on here... it will make a difference if it's auto or manual.

I found a sc300 radiator for a good price.
Should drop right in right?

No.. with radiator hoses, go with the engine type.. Because, depending on the engine, the upper radiator exit on the engine might be different. I believe you can use a 2jzgte upper hose, but not a GE because of the reason I just stated.
