1 UZ-FE performance upgrade w Temp Sensor replacement?

So I swapped my original sensor out with a new Autozone Duralast one, and as I had said earlier my car was already running smoothy just like new. After installing the new sensor, I didn't really notice a great difference in how the car drove. It did idle a bit smoother than before though. Performance-wise.. I don't think i noticed a difference, but I haven't had a chance to drive it hard. If anyone's interested in trying this.. I think the main improvement is in the way it'll idle.

just remember, when the car gets hotter than operating temp the ecu pulls out timing very quick.
If you change the resistance going to the ecu it will think that the car is still warming up and over fuel the car with less timing (s##t of the line), also if you install a higher temp sensor = bad full stop.

Got the BWD one... it was $22 @ Advance.
I removed the 2 plastic trim covers on the driver side, then the small vented plastic piece on the passenger side. The 1uzfe spark plug wire cover was removed. Then I snaked by that plug wire bridge by moving it a little. Stuck a socket wrench in there and pulled it out.
I wanted to avoid removing the passenger valve cover trim and the intake, so I persuaded the plug wire bridge a little.

i change my car coolant temperature and found this ..
hi everyone.......... i was changing the coolant temperature sensor on my 1995 lexus sc400, and then i found this sensor unpluged, is near the coolant temperature sensor...i dont see any wire to plug it in......do you guys know what kind of sensor is this ???

Quick update:
It's been 2 weeks since I swapped in the new coolant sensors and have driven 3 tanks of gas with it. Conclusion - no difference what's so ever. No changes to driveability and MPG. My car was perfectly maintained and had no issues to begn with, and no improvements after putting in the new sensor.
So if your car is running fine and getting good MPG (I get 23.5 on highway), don't bother doing this.
It's been 2 weeks since I swapped in the new coolant sensors and have driven 3 tanks of gas with it. Conclusion - no difference what's so ever. No changes to driveability and MPG. My car was perfectly maintained and had no issues to begn with, and no improvements after putting in the new sensor.
So if your car is running fine and getting good MPG (I get 23.5 on highway), don't bother doing this.

So I just did this today. Bought the OEM replacement from autozone. It wasn't too bad getting it out. Putting everything back together was painful.
My car is from 1996 and has about 122K miles on it. Garage-kept most of its life too. So after installing it, all I can say is wow. There is such an improvement in the entire rpm range. I can feel the biggest difference at low and mid rpm. The high end seems about the same.
I highly suggest everyone to at least check the condition of theirs. I am very happy with this.

if i was reading this one guys post right then the ECT sensor is only used for calculations by the ecu UNTIL you get to operating temp. Once you hit that mark the car switches over to the o2 sensors.
