Default car smells lean...

well i currently replaced the spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor and when i turn on the car it smells lean and idle is a little higher now(about 1100rpm). before i did the tune up it usually smells very rich whenever i turn on the car. is this normal? btw i just used some ZMAX the very same day of the tune up....

Maybe try pulling the EFI fuse for a minute and let the ECU reset.

So you can smell if your car runs lean or rich? Impressive!

^^^ my thoughts exactly. especially the lean part. if running rich, u can smell gas, understandable. the opposite isn't always true...no smell could also mean u are running correctly, no?

I dont think it is good to smell your exhaust but i may be wrong. You should get someone to test it.

i'm thinking it's just the zmax cleaning the gunks inside the engine, kinda like seafoam.

ive been thinking about it for a few hours, and the best way I can describe the lean exhaust smell (been dealing with carbureated rotaries for a while) is it's like burned propane from a gas stove. If you really are lean, then you can tell by the temp of the cats (if you have them or if you dont) you really need a wideband and a dyno. GL!
