Making more power, SC400
So I am looking to make a little more power with my 4.0. My target is around 250-260ish HP and 280 Ft lbs at the wheels. I dyno'd it and made 200HP and 217 Ft lbs. With just a intake, center cat and resonators delete and different mufflers. Recently I changed from stock pipes to mandrel 2.25 From the center cat back.
My upcoming mod list is high flow cats to replace the precats, and probably some S&S headers, eventually down the line change to a r154.
Does hitting my target numbers with these mods seem unreasonable? Keep in mind I don't really want to add boost or the bottle.
Thanks

Mostly stock tubing to a custom maf adapter, K&N cone filter, not sure what its called, but where the airbox would connect to the piece that inducts the air, enlarged it a bit to get more flow.

There is no way you will pick up 60hp to the wheels with headers, mandrel bending the exhaust piping, and even a manual transmission to minimize drivetrain loss. The manual is only going to get you ~5%, and the exhaust work is good for 20-30 tops.
I think the suggestion of an AFC tuning device is a good one. The stock fuel map is extremely rich on the top end when under WOT conditions. In some senses, the computer goes into "safe mode" to prevent blowing up the motor. With a wideband gauge and an AFC, you would be able to trim the fuel delivery when the computer goes into "safe mode" to allow for a better burning mixture and more power. The Australians are big into tuning the V8 with a piggyback computer, and they often get 20hp from the procedure.
If you wanted something totally bad *** to make the additional power, I would go with cams. For the price, you are probably getting terrible bang for buck in comparison to putting together a supercharged set up. But, cams are something that would definitely open up the top end enough to make some decent gains (perhaps enough to do 260 at the wheels with your other supporting mods). Eric at TTC sells many variations of 1UZ cams. I think they are ~$1600 for the set of four. You might also be able to get a used set of stock cams and have them regrinded at a local shop for less to get the same result. Personally, I think cams would be a bad *** mod for the 1UZ, which loves to make power up top anyways. Why not bias the valvetrain in such a way to amplify that effect?
In a nutshell, 260hp at the wheels is just enough power to almost need to have a small nitrous shot or a mild supercharger set up. For the price of an AFC, wideband, and S&S headers, you could nearly piece together a mild supercharger kit using the Lextreme Fish bracket making 4psi that would require no intercooler or no tuning, and and you would definitely make your mark.

1600$ is steep, I can almost do a 1jz for that. I took a liking to the v8 and the exhaust is just dead on EXACTLY how I want it to sound. An I want something a bit different a lot of people have boosted 3.0 and the 2.5tt. in you guys opinion, think it'd be impossible to squeeze 30ish HP/ ft lbs out of replacing the precats with high flow cats and headers perhaps with a SAFC? I am thinking I will get a rather large gain (around 10-15) from the precats, because my car is 13 years old with 117k, I doubt the cats are in good shape and flowing like they should
