I was thinking about installing some nitrous on the SC400, and was wondering if anyone knew the limits of the stock trans? I assume that this is one of the weak links of the drivetrain, the next being the head gaskets (maybe?) If the trans can take the abuse, then a 150 shot would be in order.

the sc400 trans is basically the supra TT trans with different gearing. it can take ~450 whp with a trans cooler.

shimming as in making the car shift harder? if so then yea

it would hold up fine to the Nitrous, but if you want to make more power, you might want to look into a rebuild kit. How many miles are on your tranny?

80 thousand miles. It shifts fine and I pulled the pan and there isnt really any clutch or other wear material on the bottom. Trans cooler and spare trans it is. 450 is pretty good.
