capabilites of the 2jz-ge
hello all,
As you can tell by my user name i really want a SC300 i have loved the car for quite some time!!!! I currently own a v6 mustang and let me tell you it has .8 more displacement and evrything is a custom install also they only make about 300hp in stock form just w/ a turbo kit. I love that you can put a turbo on the 2jz-ge and come up with awesome numbers. Here is my question what are the stock internal capcity of the Ge engine i mean if they can handle 500plus hp then why swap out for a GTE. Also are these numbers on just a turbo kit or is there head work involved aswell.

the internals are just about identical to the GTE. people are pushin around 450+ with just the stock internals. You might need a new gasket to lower the comp ratio (10-10.5 depending on year) if you want to hit the 500+mark. Beyond that you might want to consider a full internal rebuild seeing its hard to fine a GE w/ less than 100k miles on the clock. the heads will also flow just fine, but i would be more concerned with the wacky intake manifold going over the valve cover...might want to get a side feed manifold (like the GTE style, GTE mani will NOT bolt on)
BTW what year mustang? my roomate has a foxbody w/ a 5.0 V8...

So there pretty much identical huh??? INteresting i didn't bother to do a search because i figured you well knowlegable people wouldn't mind answering a question! I guess some do not. It's a 98 v6 no ammenities at alll and it's a dog in the power department. I mean everything is one-off if you want to go fast. I just can't see making a custom turbo kit and only getting like 300 to the wheels. I love mustangs but if i can grab an inline six and boost the chit outta it then by all means thats the way to go just gotta sell the stang and my f-250 first.

I went from a '97 v6 Mustang to an SC as well about a year ago. The SC is so much better it's ridiculous. I really did like that Mustang, but as you say,
1. The v6 just costs way too much to make it go fast.
2. It's just not built as well as the Lexus.
3. The SC doesn't draw NEAR as much cop attention (provided you don't drive like an idiot)
4. Lastly, there's just not that All-Mustang-drivers-are-A-holes thing going on.... Which you can't deny, is true more often than not...
Anyway, people on here are actually very nice and helpful most of the time, but they do expect you to search. In my experience with mustang forums they were like that too. If you're really interested in boosting one, go visit www.clubna-t.com - it's pretty much dedicated to boosting the 2JZ-GE, and there's a whole dyno thread that says what people have made off of the stock bottom end. There's one guy over there that's got like 900+. Regardless, if you can't find anything by searching, don't hesitate to ask and we'll all be glad to help out. Be patient and find the right SC - good luck on your search!

My longblock is 100% stock (with the exception of a 2.5mm head gasket).
I did 464 rwhp with a conservative tune, at only 20psi on a T67 turbo. I plan on leaning it out, adding some more boost, and possibly increasing the timing. It's not the motor u should usually worry about- it's the damn w58 transmission. So far, so good- I'm crossing my fingers once I start boosting above 1.5bar though

I was wondering what kind of mileage you have on the stock motor. I was out pricing 2jz-gte motors but if my 160000 mile motor can take it i might just boost what i have then........My motor is in perfect condition and i was only looking for around 450 to 500whp.....
