Default new turbo engine swap or rebuild

(this may be a repost but i cant delete it)

Hi, im new here, i drive a red 94 3000gt sl, I like it but i hate how slow it is and the fact its fwd so i am looking for something alot faster.

Im new the toyota/supra/scx00/soarer platform and had some questions.
If i bought a sc300 i would defenatly turbo it right off the bat but im wondering which would be more cost effective. Im thinking about swaping out the engine an put in a supra TT engine in, but i though of something else.

Could i take the engine thats already in the car, rebuild and lower the compression and then buy a turbo kit for it?
Im thinking this would be much better because if i buy a supraTT engine its going to have 40k-60k miles on it, while the rebuild will have 0 and i already would have the engine avalible. (btw in case your wondering i would also be purchasing a 6 speed tranny)

Plus, if i rebuilt the engine myself and could upgrade and reinforce some parts for more horspower. What do you guys think?
