Default 95 SC400 hesitation ?

My 95 SC400 has a light jerking or hesitation at light throttle, mostely around 1600 rpm, 30-40 mpg. I dont want to think it is the torque conv. kicking in and out, but when you gas it it runs like new and smooth. Am thinking about a new set of plugs and wires. Dosent seem to really matter if the car is cold or hot, maybe a little worse when cold. No CEL.

There is another thread on this same problem that Johnsc400 and I started a while back. So far no definite answer.

Could be MAF dirty

General Tuneup, plugs, wires, caps, rotors,

Could be bad grounds from the battery and/or the motor

Could be torque converter

Could be lsight exhaust leak, faulty 02 sensor

Clogged cat converter?

Dirty Air filter?

Try searching around, lots of SC400's have the same problem. I want to talk to someone with a manual transmission conversion and see if they're having the same problems.

Thanks for throwing that at me Upinthelex, Probably should clean my MAF wire when im installing my plug wires, I have a new center cat. conv. Seems like Toyota likes to cycle their EGR sys. a lot at low throttle settings, as compared to adding the gas.

read the thread that's named "hesitation", it'll explain better, but i was pullin a 13 and a 31 which is an rpm sensor code and an air sensor code, my rpm sensor wire was being rubbed by the serpentine belt, so i just wrapped and secured it and it solved my problem for like 2 or 3 weeks now so hope it helps

Yeah, if I would have seen the other thread, I would of just jumped on that thread. My hesitation is very light, other people drive it and say they dont noyice it, guess Im a little more sensitive about it, when youve got a 98% perf. car.
