Fan is off-balance after 1JZ swap
Well, my car is finally almost broken in and I couldn't be happier with the swap. My only problem so far is my intercooler pipes kept blowing off under boost, but I got some new t-bolt clamps in the mail yesterday and the car pulls amazing now. (apparently every IC pipe was like a giant boost leak before, lol)
The only problem I'm left with (other than the temp and tach fixes) is the fact that my fan seems to spin off balance. Does anyone else have this problem? I was told by someone when I got an estimate for a custom downpipe that over time this could cause the water pump to fail, and by looking at pics of our water pumps I think he was right.
I did put a light coat of paint on the fan, and had to use 1 washer on each of the fan studs so the fan would clear my radiator hose without hitting it. I really don't think any of these things could have caused the fan to be off balance, but that's all I can come up with.
Thanks,
Joe
