Greetings all! I have a '92 5spd manual SC300 with about 165,000 miles on it. The car still runs great and still has great gas milage BUT the RPM often idles at 1300-1700 rpm. The idle is 6-700 RPM right after u turn the ignition but if you rev the engine to 1300 rpm, it stays idle @ 1300rpm. And it will remain to stay @ 1300 forever.
has anyone experienced this problem? or know what the problem may be?
-Thanks

I am having this same problem, but mine stays stuck between 1500-2000rpm. I took a look at the throttle cables and stuff and I figured out which part is not operating correctly, I don't know what it's called though. Seems like a black valve of some sort that sits underneath the whole throttle cable set up and there's a bolt that's suppose to push the valve back but it doesn't push it back far enough. I dont see what's connected to it so I'm guessing it goes right into the intake manifold. If I had a digital camera I would take a picture of it but I don't have one right now. Someone help me out too. Pm me or something.

I had a problem very similar to this one time when I was Automatic. You might want to take a look underneath where the cruise control end of the throttle cable is. The part in the engine bay that has that square black plastic cover you can just pull off located on the left side of the engine bay if the car is facing you. I sprayed mine off with WD-40 to kind of wash away all the dirt that was getting the throttle cable piece stuck.
