What are the emission laws like in NY? Stricter than GA? If they are why not just go with a high flow cat, that is what I am getting when I go turbo. B/c I know I can't pass with a midpipe. You may only see minimal gains anyways on an NA car.

Magnaflow is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. Go to justmagnaflow.com to buy.

I have a stock sc3, and I just got rid of the rear coverter and the resonaters. They replaced them with straight 2.5 in. pipe and a Y pipe. I think it might have made a little difference. I have yet to test my highway milage. Thats the main reason I did it. Plus, it sounds good.....not too loud.

I ran for 2 days with a cat and resonators on my 1JZ, gutted the cat, got almost 500-800rpm quicker spool on the turbos.

I think in GA it is posible to pass without cats, as lond as you have and obd1 car. the only problem is if they dont see an exhaust tip because you have turndown then they will give it a visual inspection and you will fail. The trik to passing the GA emissions test is to drive the car in the highway for a few min. before and get the engine really hot. for some reason the hoter engin burns off the hydrocarbons beter.
it pays to make small talk with the emissions guys.
good luck with the mods.

koo thanks for the insight on the emissions.... i might be able to get away with it if i get the emissions done as soon as i get to ga from the ny drive. car would be hot and running for 12+ hours any way. Maybe thats how i passed with bad cats in the 1st place. Oh yea i do talk to the guys 2 lol
