Default Single exhaust? Yay or Nay?

Hey all,

I was thinking of going with a single exhaust setup for my sc4 but can't make up my mind. I've read a few threads where it was too loud, but was just wondering who here has single exhaust and how do you like it? I've only seen a handful of single exhaust owners which is why i'm curious.

If i do go on with it should i do 2.5" from the headers to a 2 to 1 collector into a cat and then 2.5 all the way back? or 2.25"? I just want a nice rumble and not give me a headache on long trips. Also will the muffler shop have the 2 to 1 or do i need to buy that as well?

I was thinking of going with the JIC Magic DE-Type 1 Titanium muffler

Any suggestions?

I am pretty sure that you would want to stay dual because you have a V8. It would flow alot better than single. Now if you had a SC3 def. single.

I'd keep the duals because they look better and the transition to single wouldn't be that great of a performance increase. For a I6 it makes more sense, since there's only a single output from the engine anyways.

Yea, I agree with these guys... Too bad you dont have an sc300!!!..... But if you want to see how single exhaust looks in person, you cna see it next weekend at the UCF show. Detuned, also has a single exhaust on his car and im hoping he will be at the show if his car is not sold by then

if sized right you wont lose any power and may gain some. Im currently thiking of doing this on my GS4. There are a few UZ engine powered kit cars running single exhausts with noticable gains. Talk to jbrady about it, he was helping me with my design.

I like the single look because it's different, and well JIC makes one for the SC4 that I can't really afford right now but would like to emulate hehe.

I say one pipe per cylinder head - you've got two. That plus I like symetry - it's kinda like that lady on "Kung Pow" with the one boob - it was kinda cool to look at, at first, but then the novelty wears off and eventually you realize that two is the way God intended it.

Very good point! But then again Lance only has one and he's the top dog!

I'm looking at both dual and single and hopefully one day i'll wake up and I'll know my answer hehe.

I have a SC300 and about to rock the single for weight factors. From the X pipe-delete the CAT and 2.75 or 3in straight back and kicked out to the left. Wonder if it'll be loud?
