Which ECU are you running with your 1JZ swap?
Help! I've searched for days, and can not find this covered anywhere. I was told the JDM ECU should be plug and play with all of our cars wiring... everything should fit. I was about to buy my JDM swap this weekend, had the money in hand, when I realized the ECUs he had were not correct.
I have a choice of two motors. Both are the JDM 1JZGTE swaps complete with everything needed for the swap. However, they each have a different wiring harness. The guy I'm buying it off of has a supra, and he said neither of the harnesses/ECUs are for a supra. However, if neither ar for a Supra, and both are different, that would logically mean that one is out of a Soarer and one is out of a Chaser... but that somehow does not look like the case.
Engine one has an ECU that fits the wiring harness for that engine. However, that ECU looks nothing like my stock ECU on the SC300. The other engine has a different wiring harness, but no ECU that fits it... and lastly he says he has another ECU that came with the swaps, that doesn't fit ANY of the engines he has... but he is going to pick it up so I can see it.
Can someone please post which ECU you have used in your swap? I know it's a Soarer ECU, but unfortunately no ECUs come with "soarer" printed on them, lol. It should have the ECU number on it, or a sticker with the number of pins per plug, etc. Also, does anyone know the reason for the two different wiring harnesses, and/or know which I am looking for once I do find the right ECU?
THANKS!
Edit: THIS is the ECU he has that does fit one of the engines wiring harnesses. However, it does not look anything like my SC300 ECU. Is this the computer you guys are running?

I don't currently have a 1JZ but I can tell you that the ECU for a SC300 USDM will be nothing like the JDM Soarer.
If you think about it, it only makes sense. The 1JZGTE ECU has to manage two turbos in addition to many other differences that are not on the 2JZGE. Also, I believe there is a 1JZGE, so you have to look out for that as well.
Good luck.

Thanks for the post. I guess what I'm asking is which ECU is "plug and play" with the SC300 as menitioned in all of the previous threads. (no modification to the car wiring harness or the engine wiring harness except for extending the engine wiring harness about 20") The number on the ECU was never mentioned as everyone else was lucky enough to get the correct ECU with their swap.
I just hope by the title of this post that everyone that knows the answer just doesn't glance over it figuring it was a typical n00b question

Anyone have any idea how I can find what the number on the Soarer ECU is? The guy has 3 complete 1JZ swaps and all are different, I have no way of telling which is for a Soarer unless I can get some kind of number. Can you check the link at the bottom of my original post and see if you remember if that looked like yours?
Thanks!
Thanks!
