Default Drive belt problems

I am about to pull my hair out at this point.

This all started last Friday.

I was making a U-turn on campus and noticed that it felt like my power steering was not working. My battery light came on as well. After I got going again it felt fine and the light went off. 3 miles down the road, I am coasting to a stop for the redlight at my apartment complex. I sit there and watch my temp needle rise up...I had to sit at the light for a minute.

Then steam starts pouring out from under the hood of the car. I quickly get into the complex as the temp needle goes all the way hot, park and pop the hood there is steam pouring out from where the upper rad. hose is clamped onto the fitting on the motor. It finally cools down.

The next day, I suspect drive belt problems considering the alternator(2 months old), powersteering, and (I think) water pump were effected.

I actually had an extra new toyota belt that I could put on , so I slapped that on there and drained and refilled the radiator and cooling system.

Aside from squealing (with which I have had serious issues in the past),the car did ok on Saturday. No battery light, good PS, and maintained correct temperature.

Yesterday, I start the car and get an immediate battery light, and no PS. I assume that if I would have overheated if I had let it run long enough as well.

The alternator is 2 months old, I replaced the tensioner this summer, and like I said, there's a new Toyota belt on there now. I am at 110,000 so the water pump is due for replacement anyways.

Can anyone give me any pointers as to what might be wrong and/or how I could find out what's wrong for relatively cheap (college). ANY help will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

BTW the car is a '93 SC300 5 sp.

That's what we have it narrowed down to right now. But would that cause the alternator and power steering to be effected as well?

I can sit there and watch the belt run, what seems to be, properly while the battery light is on and PS is dead.

Check the Crank Pulley. My pulley wasn't function properly and was effecting my alternator, power steering, AC etc.
