There was what looked like a small amp installed in the same bracket under the cd changer. I removed it with the cd changer but the audio sounded very muffled without it so I plugged it back in. It weighed around 3 lbs.

Yes, they're direct replacements.
VSsc400's estimate was rather on the high side. The stock seats and hood weigh 180-190 lbs total. Supra seats are probably 60 lbs combined (not 100% positive about that, but somewhere in that ballpark), and the average CF hood is around 30 lbs. That makes the total savings 100 lbs tops, but more likely 80-90 lbs.

I just sold my mint condition mk4 front black leather seats which were 88 lbs total. would have liked to put them in the sc but i needed the money more.

This has the makings of a good sticky, but with it being 31 pages long and filled with a lot of alternative posts, it’s difficult. If the contents of the thread were compiled onto page 1 this could be seriously awesome!
