1jzgte vs the 2jzgte
Alright guys im sure this question has been asked. But here she goes. What is the difference between the 1 jz vs the 2jz? Is there any difference or are they minor? is one easier to put in a 92 sc300 and also is the tranny a must or not? Just let me know guys. thanks

did you use the search? haha...boy r u going to **** the moderators off with this one. 1jz is 2.5 liters where as the 2jz is 3 liters. 2jz has a sinquential twin turbo setup where the 1jz does not. uhhh... i think they both bolt up to the sc's transmission w/ no mods. more parts for 2jz here in the US and easier to get then the 1jz because the 2jz is in the supra and we all know how big the supra tt is.

Well the difference in most parts has been stated above the 1jz is a 2.5 liter while the 2jz is a 3.0 the motors are both great fantastic motors.. They both are able to generate 700 ,800 hp levels with Turbo and fuel Upgrades, The 2JZ will produce much more trq over the 1jz.. But it all depends on your budget the 1jz is realativly cheap compare to the 2JZ..

1jz is relatively cheaper that the 2jz.
at first...
but just wait until stuff breaks. General maintenence will be a pain to deal with. I believe jeff watson at jay marks can get 1jz parts, but not before a relatively long wait.

do things break a lot on these motors? Are they unreliable. i would think not since they are supra motors right? Or what does the 1jz come out of?

toyota motors are great, but after so many miles and a certain power level, stuff is bound to break eventually
1jz came out of the soarer, mkiii supra, chaser and a few other cars that never made it to the us

Heheh mods will get you for this one so do a search
The 1JZGTE is a 2.5L motor, twin ceramic turbos (CT12A), intercooled (JZZ30 Soarer and Chasers/MarkII/Cresta etc. use a small (ie. pathetic) SMIC, whilst the JZA70 (MA70) Supra used a bigger (but thin) FMIC), smaller injectors on the 1JZ (380cc from memory?) compared to J-spec 2JZ (440cc) and US-spec 2JZ (550cc). The engines are theoretically similar besides the larger displacement of the 2JZ, plus the different sized turbos and injectors (in a nutshell basically).
Hope that helps.

As mentioned many times by your peers...the search is your best friend.
Heck, I even made my signature a search button.
Anywho, here is what I came up with on a quick search

Also, a good resource is www.Intellexual.net
