1JZ power
I tried searching but cant find anything. Whats the most hp you can get out of a 1JZ? I've been hearing about all these people switching to 1JZ and have been curious about the potential. Everyone knows 2JZ GTE can make over 1000. My question is, with the right turbo and other upgrades, whats the most power the 1JZ can make? I might just go with the 1JZ because 2JZ will take years to save up for and mod.

Damn. No wonder you went with it. WHen do you plan on upgrading the turbo?
Do you guys think it would be more costly to make a 1JZ make 700rwhp or a 2JZ make 700rwhp?

it would probably cost the exact same, manifold would be slightly different tho...
most people didnt pick the 1jz over the 2jz because the 1jz can make as much power... they picked it because its WAY cheaper... less than a fifth the price actually...
there really isnt a "MOST" of what you can get out of a motor... hell, 4 years ago, 900whp was insane... well Marko dynoed 1520whp through an automatic not too long ago and there's a multitude of Supras making over 1000whp... just hasnt been many people to use the 1jz over here yet...
the 1jz with its oversquare design should be able to match the 2jz or at least come close to it; because it has more potential to rev safely into the higher-end of the powerband... part of the reason the little RB26 can pump out ridiculous numbers too... short stroke motors rev like crazy

A 1jz can do just about anything a 2jz can do. Everyone just builds the 2jz-gte because they are already here in the states and come factory on the MKIV's.
Both engines are basically identical so there for building one or the other would be about the same. Its just the fact that there arent many 1jz's in the states so not to many people have put them to their limits..... (yet)

there is no doubt in many ppls mind that the 1j is very capable of making great power but there is still no replacement for displacement. the 2j will probably just make power slightly easier than the 1j having a half a liter on it. but by no way is it hard to make power on a 1j.
