Post When are your mounts bad?

I bought the three mounts for my SC which include the two engine mounts and the tranny mount.

When I got under the car the engine mounts seemed fine but the tranny mount is suspect. This mount has a pad on the bottom. See pic of new mount. Is the upper cradle supposed to sit on this pad or is that a final resting place when the mount goes out? My current mount in the car rests on this pad. Is it not supposed to? Should I replace it because it is?

Question

Jose, I'm looking to inspect my mounts as well as I hear that on the '92's they're most likely gone, even though I don't get any engine "jump" when I press the gas. How hard is it to replace the mounts? I mean can a buddy who's an experienced mechanic with various tools do it or does one need a lift? Someone please chime in and help us out...

There was a thread I did on this a while back in the engine and trans section. We had a lot of input and apparently you can do it yourself, I am yet to try but a member said that they did it themselves with no lift.

Guys:

I don't see why it can't be done with some jackstands in your driveway. I know the rear mount for sure is a piece of cake you just need to get the car high enough to stick your carcass under there to undo the bolts. Those autoramp dealies would be good for this and if not, use some stands.

The fronts I haven't looked into that much yet because they seem to be in great shape. Shouldn't be that much of a big deal tho. Probably just jack the motor up and swap out one side then repeat on the other.

I'm debating whether I should change my mounts. My 92 has 120k on it but the mounts look real good so I'm lead to believe the previous owner did it for me... Not sure. Lexus service records didn't show anything to the effect so I'm on the fence with this one.
