Default Backup LEDs Installed

I finally got around to installing the backup LEDs I had ordered. I used these:

2 x Backup Reverse LED Lights 10W 6000k White 921 T10 T15 Projector Lens Bulbs
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261806386375

I think they look awesome - much brighter and whiter:

$8 for LEDs concerns me. My friend Paul owns Diode Dynamics and he sells a similar bulb for $90. I've run their lights on every car I own and am yet to have a single failure. I would trust a U.S. Made LED over a Chinese knockoff every time.

Keep in mind, I'm not talking down to you as your post made me start looking lol, I'm just saying watch for cheap knockoffs.

I agree on cheap knockoff Ebay Chinese stuff.

I always go with VLEDS 5K 921's.

I hear you, Swacie, but for $8 I'm willing to give them a shot. If they fail prematurely I've learned a relatively cheap lesson.

Interestingly, on the Diode Dynamics website they reference Epistar, Cree, Osram, and Samsung as the source of their LEDs. All of these companies manufacture offshore.

Much of what you see sold in the US is from China anyway...some of it marked WAY up! I am no expert, but I do know this. My brother-in-law has been an avid remote control airplane builder for over 40 years. He says that these small hobby shops overinflate so many parts he uses now...sometimes as much as 700-800%. He has a Chinese company that buys from directly now, and has been doing so for the last 5 years or so...at a fraction of the cost, with no perceived impact to quality. While he appreciates US small business, he said he does not mind not using them when they so over-inflate their prices and...well, he does not say it nearly that nicely, so I will stop there.

is it really brighter? I installed a different set in mine. I installed one LED and left the other stock then looked at them at dusk. It didn't seem much brighter, but it certainly was a whiter light which I liked. For me, the issue is that it relies a lot on the reflectors. The end of the LED with the projector, it doesn't point directly back. It points slightly towards the sides of the car when installed. At least on my 200T it does that (both of them).
