I've been researching dash cams for some time now and I still have not come across one that suits the bill. I primary want it for the "parking mode" these offer that will begin recording (off camera's internal battery) even when the car is parked when it senses motion/shock. I have been victim of misc damages before such as broken windshield, dings, dents, etc. and would really like to have something like this. I also don't mind the camera recording when I drive as there are so many idiots on the road these days.
Anyone have any experience with a dash cam or know of something they can recommend? I would ideally want the dash cam mounted right under the rearview mirror and I will hardwire it to ignition sourced 12V. Planning on running the power cable cleanly by the windshield/headliner and then down the pillar into the fuse box somewhere.
I have my eye on this one as it was well reviewed by "Flossy" on YouTube and that cat knows his technology very well.

I went to the Blackvue DR-650GW. Pricey, but excellent quality in a small package. Literally a set it and forget camera. With the PowerMagic module, it will record while parked until the battery drops to a preset voltage or for minimum number of hours. I recommend buying from BlackBoxMyCar.

If you leave it unattended in a parked car, are you at all concerned about someone breaking in to steal it?
