Default Dash Cam

I see Lexus and Toyota both offer a dash cam, but unfortunately they are just another add on like all the others on the market. I was hoping for one that had the cameras built into the rear view mirror, the memory card located somewhere else, and the capability to view the card on the current infotainment screen. Maybe the card would be located in the console, glove box, or wherever. I don’t like a dash cam hanging off the windshield, looking like a manufacturing afterthought, and so I will continue to wait until manufactures get around to what they finally did with gps devices, which was to integrate them into the vehicle.

Idk if we’ll get to that point, I do admit I have thought of adding one to my work truck. I think it’s too much big brother watching for it to be mainstream. Tacoma’s do come with a go mount I think that’s about as close as we’ll get for now.

You can hardwire or hide the wire pretty well for the front cam. But for the rear cam, I have not found a solution to make it hidden....

Would be awesome to somehow hijack the feed from the lane keep camera and record from it since it's already up front and centered. Seems like something mobileye should offer as a option to Toyota/Lexus.

Seems like something all manufactures could do via the lane watch cameras. They could do a better job of recording front, side, and rear activity and making it available on the main screen. Someday it will happen.
