MAF sensor cleaner by CRC
here is a heads up for anyone who got their MAF sensor gunked up
i was watching Two Guys' Garage on SpeedTV today and they were showing this MAF cleaner called CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner being the only commercial MAF cleaner out there
of course you can also just dip the whole thing in 97~99% isopropyl alcohol
it seems pretty easy to use, just spray it all over the sensor, inside and out, around the connection and on the wires
let it dry then put it back into the car
http://www.amazon.com/CRC-Mass-Flow-.../dp/B000EGH57G
it seems like it can liberate some mpg if ur sensor is dirty from bad air or oil from K&N filters and such

They don't have it here, but that stuff is good from what I hear. Personally I use computer keyboard cleaner, though I recommend due to wider availability north of the border electrical contact cleaner.

You guys better make sure the stuff you use is safe for plastics, if not, the chemical you use may actually damage the plastic. The CRC is safe for plastics and I've used it on my Tacoma as well and it works great. Also, don't use a Q-Tip to try and clean the sensor wires or you'll risk damaging them, a very expensive mistake.

Should you clean your MAF for preventative maintenance, or when the car starts to act up? I am looking to upgrade my air filter, so, should I clean my MAF along with it? Is this easy, or should I ask my dealer to do it when I bring it in for service? Thanks.
