Dirt does get past K&N filters, some interesting pictures

I copied this straight from another board, these are extremely enlarged pictures of the other side of a typical K&N filter, the side that sees the engine intake.
Judge for yourself whether this is better thank stock paper element filters

Having worked on many cars with K&N airfilters, we ALWAYS see dirt and grit
on what is supposed to be the clean side of the filter. I've had to clean too much
grit out of too many injection systems to believe any of K&N's claims about filtration.

I have sold a lot of open K&N filters and have never had anyone complain about them.
I know they keep particles out that are bigger than 5 microns. From what I heard that's about the same size that a standard filter keeps out.

I would like to see a picture of a standard filtered maf sensor.
