Default Where to buy factory paint?

My friends brother paints cars (hes one of the top painters in Minnesota) and since I helped him out with a big favor he agreed to paint my car as long as I do all the prep work and provide the paint. I'm going to paint my car Black Cherry Pearl (like on the new LS's) with perhaps an extra pearlcoat or clearcoat. I know the paintcode is "3P2" Where can I buy this paint or the equivelant? Thanks!

No way you're gonna get the OEM Nippon Paint or ALESCO paints, but PPG and DuPont make good paints, Sikkens/Lesonal and BASF also make great stuff too.

go to a local body shop and find out where they buy automotive paint from. But if your bro's friend already paints cars, he should have the hook up on where to get it already

http://www.craigslist.org/eby/pts/92574835.html heres a craigslist ad for someone in the SF bay area selling 3 quarts of that same color paint for $250. I dont have any idea if thats a good price or if thats enough to paint a whole car. But it might be worth checking out?

if you're good at painting cars, 2 quarts is enough, since in most cases the paint is mixed with the reducer(think of a lacquer thinner but with special ingredients to improve flow, leveling and in some cases like PPG's DBU basecoats, crosslinking) at a 1:1 ratio. That is 1 quart of reducer to 1 quart or basecoat. Sometimes, you might deal with 2:1, which is 2 parts of basecoat to 1 part of reducer.
