Best thing to do to new car paint?
Just picked up my 2011 LX 570. Black with light tan interior. Added the 22" F Sport wheels just to set it apart. I plan on owning this car for a few years. Is there anything I should do right away to the paint?

Wax it. There are thousands of choices and even more opinions, but the most important thing is to get something on the paint to protect it. My new lx has only 470 miles and it has been waxed twice!

I like Paint sealants vs Carnuba Wax, as it last longer.

Many great options - but as prior posts indicate - do something.
Site noted above has all kinds of options - and a good forum to discuss them.

Get it detailed and corrected of any imperfections in the paint, then get a full 3M clear film all over. Why? No one can key it so you can take it to ruffer parts of town and not worry about, and you can keep it looking perfect...

Clear bra is a must for these vehicles. It wont take long and rock chips will start accumulating. the paint is very soft... so getting a clear bra will protect the high impact areas.

A clear bra or 3m will protect it from a sharp metal key with pressure ...!?

Not all vandals use keys. I have seen two cars that were cut all the way to the metal with a sharp knife!
3Mis not going to do squat. I have my doubt about a sharp key not being able to still damage the surface.

If a vandal did that to my LX he should be tortured slowly and kept alive with a IV to sustain his life for prolonged pain...
I know it's probably jealousy but what kind of human being would do that to someone who hasnt wronged them in any way?! Boggles my mind...

Someoen could walk up to it and shoot a hole through the car as well. Paitn protection film isnt bullet proof... nor knife proof. It is designed to protect the paint from normal driving hazzrds... i.e. rocks, pebbles... If someone wants to destroy your car they will find a way. But if someone wants to key the hood and there is film on it the key will not tear through the film. Its pretty tough material... but not knife proof.

Unfortunately, there is a segment of many societies, who hate "what you have," and some, who hate "SUV's." They will damage your vehicle, and will harm you, if given the chance. Those people should be avoided at all costs.
Any other comments need to go into the "firearms thread."

If you drive a LX you have seen the "looks" or "non-looks" you get when near people who are not so lucky. It had be amplified in the last 3-4 years.
