Default Opinion: Teflon Paint Protection EXT/INT

So...I am picking up a new 2011 IS350AWD this coming Monday (see this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-is350awd.html).

The dealer offers a teflon paint protection coat that they place on the EXT and INT of the car. It costs $600.

I have it on my current car, a 2008 IS250AWD. I will say, it has done a good job protecting me from damage. I have two rock chips that are easy to see.

Questions...
1. I have heard the paint is very soft on the Lexus and it chips easily. How easy? How soft?

Am I overthinking this or being too paranoid? I have nothing to gauge this by so I'm somewhat worried.
2. What would you do in my place?

I do have time to get this done, but no later than making the call tomorrow since the dealer is closed Friday and Saturday.

Thanks!

I had something similar on my Acura before, it is just an expensive "wax/sealant", save yourself and go buy some much better and cheaper wax/sealant. with $600, I would rather get the clear bra.

Get a Ventureshield clear bra installed. It's about the same price and will offer better protection. Best investment I made for my car.

Thanks for the replies.

Do you know if this will cause any issues with the lease? I assume not, but hey, won't hurt to ask.

I own a carwash and we sell the same treatment for $100. Its just a acrylic paint sealant which you can pick up at your local automotive paint supply store.
