2001 lx 470 leather seats coming apart at the seams and then some
lots of miles, lots of dirty wet dogs, children, sweaty tx summers. before they disintegrate does anyone have a solution?
i tried horrible ill fitting covers for the front seat from the auto parts store and i really really need to cover the middle bench with something snug enough that the dogs (80# & 90#) don't slide all over the place.
i'd even think of buying a used seat for the drivers side (is that possible?). any ideas?

You should pick yourself up an issue of "4WD Action". Inside you will find so many aftermarket suppliers for Toyota SUVs in Australia.
There is one supplier that offers a wetskin type seat cover. So many canvas options as well
Good luck

why don't you just go to the dealer and ask for the seat skin replacement. They will sell you the brand new original equipment leather seat skins. A couple of hours of swapping, and it is a brand new truck from the inside. Last time a bought it was like $120 a piece.

I have a 2001 LX470 and called the dealer yesterday to get new front seat leathers and they quoted me a price around $2000!
I am pretty sure I explained that the seat was ok, I just wanted new leather. Parts guy said it was a special order.
Going to try a upholstery shop next.

My seats are pretty much destroyed and I got a quote from a leather repair shop to make them appear "new" for $460. My drive seat does even look like a seat anymore lol. I'll be getting them repaired within a month hopefully so I can show the results.

everyone, thank you for your input and ideas. i once had a guy come to the house and he had a product - i even forget what it was, some kind of bonding thing. they looked great, for a minute. the heat and wear and tear from tough use made mincemeat of what he did.
so far i found a site online (it helped when i googled "seat skins") called seat covers (seems too easy but i didn't find it before) - and these are "Monster seat covers". i called and they recommended a heavy duty fabric. i'm going to order the middle seat and i'll let you know if it's satisfactory, it's $168+tax, not including head rest covers.

There is only one guy to call for this stuff... and that's Shane at MetricTLC. He has replacement covers made to order. He is a 100 Series enthusiast as well (your lx470 is a toyota 100 series).

the seat covers ended up in the back seat to...
so anyway, i have the gold emblems. i lost one hubcap and then the other three didn't match, and the other emblems were worn. it really bugged me, so i fixed them to match.
the reason this has to do with the seat, is that i can live with the seat, the worn off other emblems (the L, the model etc) were wearing on me. it was an allocation of scarce resourses (aka dollars) to match all the emblems.
i will still fix the seats and i'm really pleased with RobReds post. I'll look into that and let you know how it goes.
i didn't find a great solution, but I admit i didn't look really hard.
